Professional Experience and Background: Marilyn Taylor is the founder of Taylor Training & Development, Inc.  Since 1991, she has been working with people and organizations that want to learn, change, and grow.  The services of TT&D range from Supervisory Training and Leadership Development to Executive Coaching and Meeting Facilitation.

Prior to completing an MSBE degree at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Marilyn served as a part-time faculty member at Davidson County Community College teaching a variety of business courses. After graduation, she began to develop and create her own learning programs, and thus Taylor Training & Development was born. Marilyn developed and maintained an MBTI® based program that sought to equip Small Business Center participants with knowledge and skill in effectively working with others.  She also delivered programs on effective communications and managing change, both to the college community and to businesses throughout North Carolina.  Nurturing those ties through the years, she continues to work with business and industry training through the college and also serves as a tutor.

College contacts led to Marilyn’s involvement with the world’s largest maker of spun yarn, Parkdale Mills.  Initially, she worked with supervisory training in one plant.  Ultimately, she became the corporate training consultant for over 30 plants, and led strategy sessions for top management.  While consulting with Parkdale, Marilyn received Green Belt training as management sought to create a Six Sigma climate within the organization. She became a leader and trainer in the initiative, working alongside managers, engineers, and statisticians.  Then president of Parkdale Mills, Dan Nation, called Marilyn a “catalyst for positive cultural change”.

Marilyn’s work through the years has included not-for-profits and churches where she has assisted in strategic planning, teaching, and launching new initiatives. This work has taken her from the tropics of Belize, CA ~ to a tiny fishing village in southern Thailand.  Her newest learning adventure is in Career Navigation, as Marilyn sought to honor a long standing interest in helping others discover their vocation.  The journey brought her to the PaperRoom where she found new direction and momentum for the growth of Taylor Training & Development, Inc.  She created a “Southern Annex”, in the words of Sydney Rice, where individuals can come to experience the unique environment and process that has made the PaperRoom so richly rewarding.

From membership at the local chamber level, to affiliation with the global Association for Psychological Type, Marilyn seeks to touch her world and make a difference in it.
