In addition to our individual courses, the EDGE Academy of Leadership offers a complete 12 session program. This comprehensive leadership development program starts with individual assessments to provide a detailed picture of each leaders strengths and needs. Our experienced facilitators will then work with each participant to develop individual action plans and set their goals. Individual coaching, classroom instruction and online developmental curriculum will work together to develop each leader's knowledge and skill set. With less than 25 leaders per class, small class sizes will allow for behavior modeling and role play to enhance learning. Each class will mix leaders from different companies, encouraging contrasting perspectives. This program encourages accountability, following up with a 360 degree assessment to make sure each leader is carrying the skills they have learned into the work environment.

12 Session Program Takeaway:

Classroom Experience:

To help attendees prepare for the 12-week class, we will set up and facilitate a virtual workspace for prerequisite assignments, ongoing collaboration, and session followup. The workspace will be live for a period of 90 days after the class has ended, to give participants ample time to network before and after the event.

Session Pre-Work:

EDGE Essential Leadership Academy Pre-work

The Edge Essential Leadership Academy pre-work offers the advantage of three unique assessment instruments covering sixteen core-competencies. It will provide an in-depth understanding of the developmental requirements of the leader and a clear direction for future sessions. 

Session Topics:

Session 1: The EDGE Essential Leadership Suite Interpretation

Knowing the strengths and needs of each leader is the first step in determining the coaching and developmental requirements needed to address competency gaps. This session will provide an understanding of how to interpret the Knowledge for Leaders group and individual assessment results, create individual development plans with commitments, deploy gap analysis (self and manager) as well as how to launch and utilize the edge E-learning component.

Session 2: Leadership Development

This session will focus on leadership development as it relates to core values and how core values drive leadership behaviors. We will take an in-depth approach and explore how successful leaders accomplish results through the use of core leadership competencies.

Session 3: Building Integrity, Trust and Ethics 

Leaders must be credible to be effective. Personal integrity and relational trust are the essential building blocks of credibility. Participants explore what is required for building integrity and trust as a leader.

Session 4: Leadership and the Law

Litigation, workplace harassment and discrimination are among the many challenges we face in the work-a-day world. Leaders need a thorough understanding of the landmines of legal quandaries in the workplace. Participants will overview the basics of employment law, legal regulations and ethical principles.

Session 5: Communicating Effectively 

What and how we communicate is essential for all of our relationships. Participants will identify and evaluate effective ways to listen, reflect, write, and speak in order to strengthen their communication with those they lead.

Session 6: Conflict Resolution

Let's face it: Leaders will be challenged daily and must be able to proactively respond to a variety of conflicts facing them in their daily routine. This course is designed to help participants become better managers of conflict so that they can build productive relationships in the workplace. Participants will have the opportunity to learn and demonstrate their conflict management skills in a variety of group activities.

Session 7: Performance Management Standards and Goals

Excellence in performance is substantially enhanced when we receive constructive and timely direction and feedback from our leaders. Participants will investigate a systematic and structured performance management process that leads to effective interactions between leaders and followers. Effective leaders clearly define the goals to be pursued and the standards of attitude and action by which those goals will be achieved. Participants will examine the way in which these goals and standards are established, communicated, pursued and measured.

Session 8: Coaching and Counseling

Teams perform better when they receive constructive coaching and counseling. Paticipants will discover the types of attitude and behaviors that will improve their efforts in influencing, negotiating, coaching, and counseling with team members.

Session 9: Problem Solving and Decision Making

The daily challenges of work require leaders to work with team members to solve problems and make decisions at the speed of change. Participants will examine the best practices for problem-solving, decision-making, and managing conflict in the midst of complex and chaotic environments.

Session 10: Managing Change

Life and work are affected by the rapid, radical, and recurrent changes taking place in our world every day. Participants explore a systematic and structured process to manage change in innovative and adaptive ways.

Session 11: Team Building

There are no born teams. Teams are built through the diligent efforts of their leaders and a diversity of members. Participants discover the effective principles of building teams and managing diversity in the dynamic and fast-paced atmosphere of the modern organization.

Session 12: Financial Fundamentals

Budget and resource constraints are a central part of day-to-day operations in any working environment. Leaders must have a basic grasp of the fundamentals of finance. Participants will discover the basics of budgets, balance sheets, cash flow statements, risk assessment and more.
